Club of the Week | York Acorn

Another trophy for the thriving North Yorkshire club.
Club of the Week | York Acorn

This week's rugby-league.com Club of the Week is York Acorn after their Yorkshire Men's League side picked up the Forty20 Cup for a second time.

The side were playing in their fifth-successive pre-season Cup Final and repeated their 2013 success by beating Beverley 20-8 on Friday night.

Aside from that success, the North Yorkshire club host a thriving NCL outfit who enjoyed promotion from Division One last year and have won their last two league games.

The reality of the Premier Division soon hit home after promotion with six successive losses, but Leigh Paul-Rientoul's introduction as first team Head Coach, after Scott Rhodes stepped down, has inspired successive wins.

Paul-Rientoul was coach of the club's YML side before stepping up, but took charge of his former team one last time last week, with his side producing a memorable send off.

Paul-Rientoul is also making waves on the international stage as he leads the Yorkshire Men's League Lionhearts on tour to Serbia, while five on the club's players are set to head out on various representative tours.

York Acorn are one of the country's leading Community Rugby League clubs and, with top-level facilities both on and off the pitch, offer a welcoming experience for players and fans alike.

The club hosts under 8s, under 10s, under 12s, under 14s, under 15s under 18s and 18s, alongside two Open Age sides and a Masters team.
