Swinton secure dramatic victory over York

Swinton are 80 minutes from a place in the Kingstone Press Championship after securing a dramatic 18-17 golden-point extra-time win over York at Sedgley Park.

The City Knights had led 12-6 at half-time thanks to tries from Ed Smith and Kris Brining and, after the Lions had fought back to level the scores, a drop goal six minutes from the end by Jordan Howden edged the visitors into a 17-16 lead.

However, Swinton's Ben White tied the scores with just 12 seconds left of normal time and his half-back partner Chris Atkin put over a second drop goal in the fourth minute of extra time to bring the semi-final play-off to a sudden halt.
