Stanningley Still Looking To Recruit
Stanningley started out their journey in 2007 with only four players to start their first training session. Training began with volunteer coaches more often than not a different one each week.
Originally they entered as a development team due to lack of numbers, enabling them to play with a minimum of nine players and no commitment to play week in week out. Player numbers gradually increased over the next three years, with the help of a dedicated coach.
Leading them to win their first league winner’s trophy in 2010 in division one along with a challenge cup runners up achievement! Then 2011 saw them become league & plate final winners.
After two years playing both winter & summer they then made the decision to play only summer rugby! This gave players and coaching staff a rest, which was not only deserved but was well needed.
In 2012 they finished second in the league & lost in the playoff final being named charity shield runners up and then a year later in 2013 they finished joint third in the league. 2014 saw the become division one league champions playoff champions & charity shield runners up & a well-deserved promotion into the premier league.
Stanningley have no doubt it will be a tough season ahead and are looking for new players to join them in what they believe can only be the next step to there already upward journey into the 2015 season.
If any player is interested in joining the Stanningley team please contact Coach Ben Bibby on 07460 300330.
