Warriors are just champion

Warriors are just champion

Leyland see off Mersey and Halifax in season finale.

Leyland Warriors continued their regular-season unbeaten form in the play-offs to secure victory in the 2014 Grand Final at the Richard Dunn Leisure Centre in Bradford.

After Leyland and Halifax had both weathered the Mersey Storm the final fixture between those teams created a compelling title decider.

The determined Halifax outfit, for whom the "Player of the Play-Offs" Jack Brown was outstanding, succumbed to the well drilled Warriors and their host of current England Internationals.

“I’m made up for the players who are a real experience and rookies,” said Leyland player-coach Phil Roberts.

“To have gone undefeated exceeded our expectations.

“There has been some big improvement in the clubs which has made for tough encounters-as illustrated by the nail-biting finale with Halifax."
