Rochdale Hornets sign former international Fuifui Moimoi

Rochdale Hornets have confirmed the signing of former Tonga and New Zealand international forward Fuifui Moimoi ahead of the 2021 Betfred League 1 season.

The 40-year-old has over 200 NRL appearances to his name following an 11-year spell with Parramatta Eels before enjoying stints with Leigh Centurions, Toronto Wolfpack and Workington Town.

Moimoi helped the Eels to the 2009 NRL Grand Final crossing for a try in a 16-23 defeat against Melbourne Storm. He has since helped Leigh earn promotion to the Betfred Super League and Toronto earn promotion from Betfred League 1 to the Championship.

Rochdale Head Coach, Matt Calland, said: “I am delighted to get Fuifui on board with the Hornets for 2021.

“Despite being in the twilight of his career, shall we say, he is still a devastating ball carrier and will have a great influence on the team with all his experience.

“I’m sure this signing will excite fans and I look forward to working with him in 2021.”

The news comes after the Hornets’ current longest-serving player Ben Moores signed a new deal last week which will extend his stay with the club into a sixth season.
