Coral Challenge Cup Round Four round-up

Coral Challenge Cup Round Four round-up

Late drama across the Fourth Round

Underbank Rangers produced a resilient display as one of the oldest amateur clubs in the game held Bradford Bulls to a 22-0 victory in the fourth round of the Coral Challenge Cup.

The Holmfirth club, who were playing in the fourth round for the first time in their 135-year history, knocked out League One West Wales Raiders in the last round and matched the five-time Challenge Cup winners for long periods at the Tetley's Stadium in Dewsbury.

The Rangers team of plumbers, school teachers and landscape gardeners kept their tryline intact up until the 19th minute and, even after conceding three tries in 18 minutes, never threw in the towel and restricted the Bulls to a solitary try in the second half.

Bradford, who knocked out Leeds in the sixth round last year, were indebted to their bench for their hard-fought victory.

Hooker George Flanagan scored with his first touch in the 200th appearance of his career, while French forward Levy Nzoungou scored his first try for the club.

The Bulls' other tries came from second rower Adam Rooks and stand-off Rowan Milnes, who also kicked three goals.

Jimmy Keinhorst 's late try sealed a thrilling 24-22 win for York City Knights at London Broncos.

Tries from Daniel Hindmarsh, Tuoyo Egodo, Rhys Curran, Eloi Pelissier and Guy Armitage looked to have sent the Broncos through to round five.

James Green, Jordan Baldwinson and Marcus Stock all replied for the Knights, and when Connor Robinson kicked his fourth goal following Keinhorst's last-minute try, York snatched victory.

Sheffield Eagles eeked out a 20-18 win over Halifax RLFC, with an Oliver Davies brace and tries from Joel Farrell and Josh Guzdek edging a close encounter.

Featherstone Rovers and Barrow Raiders also proved evenly matched, with Gareth Gale's late try levelling the scores before Craig Hall converted to send the hosts through 18-16 at the LD Nutrition Stadium.

Newcastle Thunder ran out 30-10 winners at Siddal and Swinton Lions ran in 56 unanswered points against Leigh Miners Rangers.

In the Friday night game, Leigh Centurions secured a 36-10 victory over Batley Bulldogs.

The Betfred Championship leaders took an early lead through tries from Liam Hood and Danny Addy but Tyler Dupree crossed to keep the Bulldogs in the game.

Iain Thornley went over twice to give Leigh a comfortable 24-6 half-time lead and Ben Hellewell and Adam Higson scored further tries for the Centurions after the break before George Senior's late consolation.

Hunslet RLFC won 22-18 at North Wales Crusaders, Widnes Vikings beat Oldham RLFC 52-12, Workington Town went through with a 22-12 victory over Doncaster and Rochdale Hornets saw off British Army 54-10.

Whitehaven RLFC's tie against Dewsbury Rams was postponed.
