Northern Championship Play-Offs to determine Betfred Women’s Super League Promotion

Northern Championship Play-Offs to determine Betfred Women’s Super League Promotion

The Women’s Northern Championship is set for an exciting climax as the top four teams go head-to-head for the ultimate prize: promotion to the 2026 Betfred Women’s Super League.

The top four teams competing to climb the promotion ladder will be:

  • London Broncos
  • Featherstone Rovers
  • Cardiff Demons
  • Salford Red Devils

London Broncos came heartbreakingly close to promotion in the 2024 season, losing out to Leigh Leopards, who now currently sit sixth in the Betfred Women’s Super League. Determined to go one better this year, the Broncos have dominated the Northern Championship, remaining undefeated throughout the season.

Featherstone Rovers also fell to Leigh Leopards in last year’s Promotion Play-Off Final, which was played ahead of the Betfred Women’s Super League Grand Final. Despite that setback, the Rovers have bounced back strongly, securing second place on the table and setting themselves up as serious contenders once again.

Cardiff Demons, pioneers of Welsh Women’s Rugby League since their debut in 2021, have quickly become a powerhouse. After winning back-to-back titles in their first two seasons, they finished as runners-up in both 2023 and 2024, proving their consistency at Championship level.

Salford Red Devils clinched the final Play-Off spot in dramatic fashion, edging out Swinton Lionesses. This will be the second year in a row that the Red Devils have made it to the Play-Off stages in bid for promotion to the WSL.

The winners of both semi-finals will battle it out on Sunday 28th September for a coveted place in the Betfred Women’s Super League.
