Betfred Men's Challenge Cup Quarter Final Round-Up

Hull KR, St Helens, Wigan Warriors and Leigh Leopards are all just 80 minutes away from reaching Wembley after their quarter-final victories.

Hull KR got the action underway at lunchtime on Saturday as they welcomed Salford Red Devils to Sewell Group Craven Park.

Experienced winger, Ryan Hall opened the scoring for the Robins, before Tanguy Zenon scored on his Hull KR debut.

The Robins went into half-time with an 18-0 lead after Kane Linnett powered his way over for a score.

Salford Red Devils tried to fightback in the second half with Tim Lafai scoring inside the first four minutes of the second half.

Shaun Kenny-Dowell and Dean Hadley made sure Hull KR had a place in the semi-final with tries in the second half.

Joe Burgess crossed for a consolation try for Paul Rowley’s side.

The other semi-final on Saturday was held in the other side of Hull, as Hull FC faced St Helens.

Joe Batchelor scored the opening try, before Hull struck back through Josh Griffin and Andre Savelio.

Konrad Hurrell scored for the visitors, as the two sides were locked together at 12 apiece as they went to half-time. Josh Griffin was shown a red card as the players left the field.

St Helens made the man advantage count with Curtis Sironen, Lewis Dodd, Jack Welsby and James Bell all scored for the Super League champions.

Jake Trueman punished Saints for an error at the back, but it was not enough for Hull to progress.

Wigan defeated Warrington, despite playing 73 minutes with 12 players.

Kaide Ellis was sent off inside the opening seven minutes, however, it did not seem to effect Wigan.

Toby King scored the only try of the first half. This was converted by Smith, who also added a penalty as the score was 8-0 after the opening 40 minutes.

Joe Bullock hit back for Warrington, which was cancelled out by an Abbas Miski try later in the half.

Josh Thewlis gave Warrington hope as he scored inside the final 10 minutes. However, they were unable to score again in the 14-12 contest.

The final quarter-final saw Championship side York Knights, give Leigh Leopards a scare.

Leigh played the majority of the match with 12 players after Kai O’Donnell received a red card.

York took the lead through a Myles Harrison penalty. This was extended shortly after through a Joe Brown try.

Joe Mellor hit back for Leigh, however, York took a 14-6 lead at the break. AJ Towse’s instinctive offload caught Leigh napping and found his teammate Harrison for the try.

The Leopards did come from behind. Tries from Tom Amone and Josh Charnley put Leigh ahead after 61 minutes.

Tom Briscoe added a brace and Charnley added another during Leigh 34-14 victory.
