Rugby League Commercial has today confirmed a new two-year partnership extension with Northern, continuing a landmark relationship that will span more than a decade.
The renewed agreement underlines Northern’s long-term commitment to Rugby League and reflects the sport’s continued focus on sustainability, inclusion, and the community game. Northern will continue as Super League’s Official Sustainable Train Travel Partner, supporting efforts to reduce the sport’s carbon footprint by encouraging the use of public transport wherever possible.
As part of the extension, Northern’s partnership rights will now also cover the Women’s Super League and Wheelchair Super League, reinforcing its support for the growth and visibility of the sport across all formats.
Northern will once again work in close collaboration with clubs across its network to ensure Rugby League remains accessible for all supporters. This includes the continuation of initiatives such as the Northern Community Stand at the Super League Grand Final, which provides young people with the opportunity to attend a major sporting event for just £2.50 per ticket.
The partnership will again see Northern maintain its strong and ongoing commitment to the community game. This includes continued support for grassroots clubs through rugby equipment competitions and sponsorship of the Community Try of the Month, celebrating and rewarding outstanding moments from community Rugby League.
Rhodri Jones, Managing Director at RL Commercial, said:
“We are incredibly proud to extend our partnership with Northern for a further two seasons, taking our relationship beyond a decade by the end of 2027.
“Northern’s long-standing commitment to Rugby League goes far beyond the elite men’s game, and the expansion of this partnership to include the Women’s and Wheelchair Super Leagues is a powerful statement of shared values. Alongside their continued support of the community game and sustainable travel, Northern are a partner that genuinely helps our sport reach more people in more meaningful ways.”
Alex Hornby, Commercial & Customer Director at Northern, said:
“We’re delighted to be again working in partnership for the 2026 Super League season. “We remain really proud of the relationship we have with Super League and the support we can bring to all formats of the game that we know is so important to the communities we serve across the North of England.
“We will work hard throughout the season to get fans to games and run our annual competition that provides tickets, training equipment and match kit for players from grassroot clubs.
“At this year’s Super League Grand Final, we’ll also be running the Northern Community Stand so fans can watch the match for just £2.50.
“We want to give everyone who loves this game opportunities to enjoy it, whether they’re travelling to watch their favourite side play or lacing up their boots to play.”
