Rugby League players urged to say ‘thanks coach!’ during UK Coaching Week

Rugby League players urged to say ‘thanks coach!’ during UK Coaching Week

UK Coaching Week is coming soon (29 April to 5 May) and the RFL, as an official partner, is asking Rugby League players of all ages and variations of the game to say ‘thanks coach’ as a mark of appreciation for the support coaches offer.

The theme of UK Coaching Week this year is ‘Developing Skills for Life’, and organisers are asking for messages of appreciation from players for those coaches who dedicate themselves to holistic development – offering guidance and support beyond simply the practical elements of the game.

RFL community coach development manager, Chris Spurr, explains:

“It’s only right that we recognise and celebrate the dedication of those coaches who nurture well-rounded individuals, both in sport and physical activity and in life. There are legions of fantastic coaches doing amazing work at all levels and variations of Rugby League, and this is our collective opportunity to say ‘thank you’ for the amazing work they do.

“Players, this is your opportunity to get creative and deliver a message that not only expresses your appreciation, but also encourages others to join in with the #ThanksCoach celebration. Here’s what you need to do.

“Firstly, think about your coach’s impact and decide what you want to say. Then record either a short video or photograph yourself holding a hand-written message made using the templates at ukcoaching.org/coaching-week

“And finally, share the video or photograph on social media and use the #ThanksCoach campaign hashtag.”

More information about preparing and sharing videos, plus ‘how to’ examples, is available at ukcoaching.org/thankscoach-wall, along with PDF and Powerpoint templates for photo options.

Submissions will also be included an UK Coaching’s ‘Wall of Gratitude’ at ukcoaching.org/thankscoach-wall.
