Jack Miller joins Newcastle Thunder for remainder of the 2023 season

The 2022 Betfred League One Player of the Year, Jack Miller has joined Newcastle Thunder until the end of the 2023 season.

Miller joins from fellow Betfred Championship club Keighley Cougars, where he spent the last four seasons.

Featuring 68 times for the West Yorkshire outfit, the 28-year-old returned an incredible 47 tries and kicked 256 goals, taking his total points tally for the Couagrs to 700.

The half back began his professional rugby league career at Huddersfield Giants, making his Super League debut in 2013 against Bradford Bulls.

Miller would then enjoy two seasons down under, playing for Queanbeyan Kangaroos in the Canberra Raiders Cup before signing for League 1 side Doncaster RLFC ahead of the 2017 season.

Speaking on his new signing Newcastle Thunder head coach Chris Thorman said: “I’ve known Jack a long time and over the years have watched his career and game grow and seen him mature as both a person and a player.

“He’s been one of the best half-backs, certainly in League 1, in the last three or four years.

“I think Jake Shorrocks leaving the club, left a hole in terms of ball players and Jack certainly fits that role.

“He’s going to compliment what we already have in Nikau Williams and Alex Donaghy, who have been doing a great job but will also give us a bit of strength in depth.

“I know Jack’s personality will also work really well with the group. He’s a proper half back, a proper general and will command on and off the pitch."
