The RFL sends condolences to the family and friends of Johnny Raper MBE, whose death at the age of 82 was announced in Australia overnight. Raper was a true great of the game, whose 39 Test appearances included three Kangaroo tours, in addition to captaining Australia to victory in the 1968 Rugby League World Cup.
His sons Aaron and Stuart honoured that legacy with their impact on British Rugby League in the Super League era, in Stuart’s case as coach of Castleford Tigers and Wigan Warriors after previously playing for Oldham.
