Cornwall RLFC to hold player trials in December

Cornwall RLFC have committed to offer at least ten paid contracts to Cornish or Cornwall-based athletes for the 2022 Betfred League 1 season as they prepare to assemble their first official squad.

They are set to hold trials in December and have invited interested athletes to send a playing CV and match footage to info@cornwallrlfc.co.uk.

The news on the club's website this week read:

"As part of our club's Cornwall-first policy, we want to ensure that the bulk of our squad is made up of Cornish athletes. Rugby League is one of the toughest, most exciting sports on the planet. It requires strength, skill, bravery, and athleticism. Cornwall RLFC believe these are qualities Cornish athletes have in abundance.

"Cornwall RLFC want the best athletes in the Duchy representing us in Betfred League 1 next season. Fancy playing Rugby League for Cornwall? Do you want to wear the hallowed black and gold? This is your chance.

"Cornwall RLFC will be holding trials in December at the Memorial Ground in Penryn. The exact date will be revealed in the coming weeks.

"The club is committed to offering at least 10 paid contracts to Cornish or Cornwall-based athletes for the 2022 season.

"This trial is for Cornish and or Cornwall-based, and South West based athletes only. Athletes from all sports are encouraged to send in their sporting CVs along with access to highlights or game footage from their sport to the club.

"Send your playing resume and any game footage to info@cornwallrlfc.co.uk.

"Successful applicants will be contacted by club staff for further discussions."
