Keighley Cougars all set to celebrate 'Cougar Pride'

The club's Betfred League 1 Round 14 fixture against Coventry Bears at Cougar Park on Sunday, August 15, will see the club host its second Cougar Pride event.

The first event of its kind to held in professional sport in this country two years ago, the club are said to be delighted to to host a second edition of the event.

Cougars are celebrating the movement and supporting the fight against homophobia in 2021, as shown by the flag worn by the players on the sleeves of their jerseys this season.

They will wear a specially designed pride kit chosen for the League One fixture in what will be a continuation of the first for the Rugby Football League (RFL) in the UK from 2019.

This season’s kit has been designed by Ryan O’Neill and his husband Kaue Garcia, who are one of only two openly gay sports club owners in the world.

The kit, as well as a few more surprises, for #CougarPride2 will be announced over the next coming days with the kit going on sale on the club website over the weekend.

The day itself is a PRIDE festival with festivities throughout the day for spectators on the terraces and in the Hall of Fame bar.

There will be entertainment, face painting, and special events throughout the day celebrating diversity, equality and inclusivity.

With Covid-19 restrictions now eased, the club are able to announce the temporary capacity of Cougar Park has been increased with supporters now able to purchase alcohol both inside and outside the bars to take onto the terraces.
