All Golds unveil Robert Webber as non-exec director

All Golds RFLC have secured proud Bristolian Robert Webber as a non-executive director, returning to the club after previously holding the post of Chief Executive Officer of the University of Gloucestershire All Golds.

Webber, who is currently Head of Operations for the highly successful Bristol Sport Foundation, first made an impression in professional sport with the All Golds, who then in League 1, secured remarkable victories against some of the nation’s most famous clubs.

Amongst his achievements were the establishment of the superb 1908 and Golden Fern Cups for Gloucestershire schools, the creation of a fine reserve grade side, the implementation of a popular and successful player pathway from 14 to 18 years of age and the creation of the popular All Golds’ Business Breakfasts.

All Golds' chairman Lionel Hurst said:

”Rob was the youngest Chief Executive Officer in UK professional sport. During his tenure he displayed tremendous tenacity and strength of spirit in establishing so much of what is now coming to fruition.

"We made a special trip to Bristol with the clear desire of seeking Rob’s return. We are thrilled at his acceptance and extremely grateful to Bristol Sport Foundation for their support and concurrence in his appointment.”

Rob is now settled back in his home city of Bristol where he was born and bred and is delighted to be back at the club.

“Rejoining the All Golds feels like a bit of a homecoming for me. It is the club where my professional career in sport started, when I was appointed the inaugural CEO of the club back in 2012.

"I have fond memories of my time in those early days and was fortunate enough to be involved in some wonderful moments; such as beating Hunslet Hawks in their own backyard, hosting the Salford Red Devils in the Challenge Cup in front of 1,000 fans in Cheltenham and winning the ‘Club of the Year’ award that celebrated our off field success. So when Lionel asked me to join the board how could I say no?

"I just couldn’t turn down the opportunity to help the All Golds to recreate and indeed exceed some of those moments.”
