Five years ago Heworth were competing in the Yorkshire Men’s League, but a win on Saturday will see them reach the pinnacle of the community game. The Villagers booked their place in Saturday’s final with a stunning 34-0 victory over Skirlaugh.
Oulton Raiders celebrated their sixtieth anniversary last year and can boast England’s record try scorer Ryan Hall and Kelvin Skerrett among their illustrious alumni, yet have never reached the play-off finals. An outstanding 28-12 win at Stanningley leaves them too just one game away from the Premier Division rugby next season.
