Caleb Aekins scored a hat-trick of tries as Leigh Centurions secured comfortable progress to Round Five with a 38-4 win over Widnes Vikings on Monday night.
Leigh made a flying start to the match as they raced into an early lead; Aekins scored twice inside ten minutes, Reynolds kicking one goal for a 10-0 lead.
And they were in again soon after as Ed Chamberlain celebrated his 100th career appearance with a try. Reynolds goaled and the home side were 16-0 ahead with just 17 minutes played.
Widnes did stem the tide for a period thereafter and Brad Holroyd's unconverted try gave them some hope going into half time as the visitors trailed 16-6.
But that was as good as things got for the Vikings as Leigh turned on the style in the second half, racking up 22 further points without reply.
Former Widnes man Keanan Brand kicked off the second-half scoring on 44 minutes, Reynolds converting for a 22-6 lead.
And their defence stood tall as they never looked likely to relinquish their lead.
There was still time for a sprinkle of magic in the closing stages ad Aekins completed his hat-trick in style just after the hour- he leapt highest for a high ball before scorching 80 metres downfield to put his side well ahead, Reynolds goaling for 34-4.
That stand-out moment came seconds after Reynolds had booted a penalty goal.
Jy Hitchcox then got in on the act with a typically acrobatic finish wide out on 67 minutes to make it 38-4 and round off the scoring on a successful evening for Adrian Lam's men.
