Pilkington Recs and Siddal were the hosting venues for the latest set of trials across the England Community Lions programme at the weekend.
With European Championship selection and a tour to Western Australia at stake for the Under 19s and Men's Open Age squad respectively, Saturday's "Red v Blues" (U19s) and East v West (Men's) were keenly contested.
The 19s game brought an impressive array of skills and four tries each, and while West rallied in the second half following a lengthy injury stoppage, East had the better side of the scoreboard to win by four tries to one.
Earlier in the day, the Under 19s squad were presented with the Four Nations Trophy they won in emphatic fashion last season - following strong internationals against Wales, Scotland and Ireland.
Then throughout Sunday, a host of Under 16s and Under 17s players were put through their paces at Siddal with the Yorkshire trials taking place. This would follow similar events already held in Brentwood and Whitehaven.
