Betfred League One Play-Off Final Preview

Betfred League One Play-Off Final Preview

Doncaster and North Wales Crusaders are both 80 minutes away from promotion to the Betfred Championship.

Doncaster finished third in the table and had to travel to Hunslet in the opening round of the play-offs.

Mahe Fonua scored twice during that victory. Fonua left Super League side, Castleford Tigers earlier in the season before joining the Dons. Sam Smeaton scored during the contest. The Doncaster captain ended the regular season as the top scorer in Betfred League One.

Richard Horne will be hoping that his side can go one further than in 2022. Doncaster lost away at Swinton last year. Home advantage could help see Doncaster move into the Championship.

North Wales have shocked many and finished the season in sixth. Due to finishing sixth, Crusaders have had to win three knock-out play-off games to reach this stage.

Player-coach, Carl Forster has helped guide his side through three away wins and a fourth would not be out the question.

North Wales defeated Workington away, before a late drop goal at Oldham saw them defeat the Roughyeds. Last weekend, Rob Massem opened the scoring for Cru inside the opening minute. Despite a Hunslet fightback, Crusaders showed their resilience to win 25-18.

The Betfred League One Play-Off Final will take place this Sunday and will be shown live at 3PM on The Sportsman.
