Betfred Women's Super League Round 2 Preview

Betfred Women's Super League Round 2 Preview

The second round of Betfred Women's Super League is all set for action, with another blockbuster set of fixtures ready to take place.

First up, Leeds Rhinos face Huddersfield Giants at Headingley tonight in a 5.45pm kick off. The game is the first of a double-header of action alongside the club's Men's team who clash with Wakefield at 8pm.

The Rhinos will be tasting their first league action of 2022 in the clash after a bye week last time, but they will be keen to make their mark after a fine Cup campaign which saw them reach the final before losing out to St Helens.

Meanwhile Huddersfield were on the end of a 50-6 defeat at the hands of York City Knights last time and will be hoping for better fortunes this weekend as they look to build on their WSL Shield success of 2021.

Elsewhere in Group 1, York are at home to St Helens in a huge contest between two title hopefuls which will be shown live on Our League.

Hosted at York's LNER Community Stadium in a 12pm kick off on Sunday, it forms part of a double-header with their Men's side who take on Halifax.

York enjoyed a run to the Challenge Cup semi-finals and backed that up with their huge win at Huddersfield last week, but they will be in for a sterner test this time.

St Helens made a barnstorming start to their title defence last weekend, running out 44-0 winners over local rivals Wigan Warriors at the Totally Wicked Stadium.

But with a huge depth of England talent on both sides, it could go either way in the week's televised match.

In Group 2, Bradford Bulls are the hosts as Leigh Miners Rangers visit Odsal. The Bulls began their campaign with a 30-0 home defeat at the hands of Featherstone, meanwhile Leigh began life in Super League with a fine 28-14 home win over Wakefield and will be hoping to make it two in a row.

Also in Group 2, there's a local derby between Featherstone Rovers and Castleford Tigers. Rovers will have their sights on another win after their success at Bradford as they look to fulfil their Group 2 title ambitions. In opposition, Castleford have endured a tough off-season but, now at the start line, will be hoping to show what they can do at the Millennium Stadium.

Finally, Warrington Wolves play host to Wakefield Trinity in their respective latest chapters in the WSL. Warrington faced a tough away trip to Barrow Raiders in Round 1 but pulled off an eye-catching 32-6 win on the road. Wakefield meanwhile will have their sights set on a first win after losing out at Leigh a week ago.
