Creating Safer Cultures | Safeguarding Adults Week

Creating Safer Cultures | Safeguarding Adults Week

This year The Rugby Football League are backing Ann Craft Trust theme 'creating safer cultures' for 2021 National Safeguarding Adults week.

This is a time for clubs from across the sport of Rugby League to raise awareness of safeguarding issues particularly as our PDRL, LDRL and Wheelchair games continue to grow.

Promoting safer cultures is all about how clubs and individuals can take steps to minimise harm occurring in the first instance.

During the week, we are asking that you listen to your members. Why not take this week as an opportunity to hold a listening club session either virtually or face to face? This can be a specifically arranged session or during a training session. Listening builds trust and if your members trust you, they are more likely to let you know if something is wrong.

And finally, are your policies and procedures up to date and in place. These are an essential way to minimise the risk of harm and ensure that you can respond effectively to any concerns

For listening club and policy templates please contact the RFL Safeguarding manager, Kerry Simmons kerry.simmons@rfl.co.uk.
