At the time of writing it is not yet clear how all community sport will be affected, including Community Rugby League.
Indications are that grassroots team sport will not be permitted in this lockdown period.
In the event that activity is cancelled, the RFL will again make available free 'Virtual Club' activities to enable clubs to keep young players in particular connected to their club and the individual exercise and mental wellbeing benefits that come from that.
The RFL will be speaking to DCMS officials tomorrow. Additionally, the Participation and Development team will continue to support community clubs directly with club sustainability work - ensuring that clubs can access all the grant funding support and national or local mitigations available and are helped in navigating this as they prepare for new seasons in 2021.
The loss of most forms of income this year, whilst facing fixed costs, is a serious concern to many community clubs.
The RFL has, since March, raised with Government and Sport England the significant and growing impact on community clubs of the loss of membership and food and beverage revenue which supports sporting opportunities in the heart of our communities.
