All you need to know about GameDay

What is GameDay?

GameDay is the Rugby Football Leagues participation and competition management system. The GameDay system is where you go to register online as a player on an annual basis, which replaces the paper form that has been used in the past.

If you are a Match Official or Coach you will also register annually on GameDay.

GameDay is also being used by Clubs and Leagues to manage competitions.

Why are we taking registrations online?

The Rugby Football League wants to provide a registration process that is fit for the 21st century.  Registering online is no different than any other aspect of online interaction such as booking your holiday or signing up to social media.

The benefits of registering online include:

  • Register at any time that is convenient to you
  • Ability to update your own details
  • Registrations are processed quicker
  • Electronic ID cards will be issued to the club quicker than before
  • Leagues and clubs save money on postage
  • Data submission is more secure than the paper form
  • Ability to pay club registration fees online

Online registrations mean that the registration process will be streamlined and become more efficient allowing players to participate without having to wait for paper registrations to be processed.

Are my personal details secure?

Yes they are.  The Rugby Football League has been securely holding registration details on a previous system for the past 20 years. GameDay simply replaces what we had before.

The Rugby Football League has to be compliant with the current Data Protection Act and GDPR legislation and was introduced Spring 2018.

SportsTG, the software providers of the GameDay system, have been working with other major sports organisations (including the NRL) for over 15 years without a major security or data breach.

Who can see my data?

  • The Rugby Football League
  • The Club you are registering for
  • The League that you Club plays in

These three organisations have always had access to registration data through the paper form.  Moving online means your data is now more secure in a centralised platform and will not have to be sent by email or post to the RFL.

Documentation uploaded as part of the registration process in order to prove the age of a player will be deleted upon approval of the registration.

What happens if I don't have an email address?

If you do not have an email address you can get one for free.  These are available from many providers such as Gmail and Outlook.

If you do not have access to the internet, please contact your club so they can help you with access or visit a local library for free access.

Why do I need to register with a Parent/Guardian email address?

Players under the age of 18 at the time of registering must have parent/guardian permission to register to play Rugby League.

What will you use a Players/Parents email address for?

When a player/parent completes the registration form they give permission for their information to be used for operational purposes.

The Rugby Football League will not provide any data to third parties unless the appropriate consent have been given.
