Driving skills and social mobility through sport

Rugby League is more than a game. For 125 years Rugby League has brought a huge range of social and economic benefits to communities in the north of England and beyond. It is a sport with a massive social impact.

Now we want to make an impact in east Manchester, where our proposed development would become a local focal point for education, training and skills. Driving up skills and social mobility through sport

And not just Rugby League. OuRLeague Life would also serve the wider sporting community. This will be a unique base shared by elite players and community players and coaches, co-located with learning spaces for young people and adults

The Development

Grey Mare Lane, Beswick

Our proposal builds on the major investment in Beswick and surrounding areas in recent years.

OuRLeague Life aims to be a catalyst for aspiration and opportunity - education, training, skills and employment – complementing Manchester’s work and skills strategy for adults and young people.

As well as offering a new facility for local people, this will be a key facility for all the England Rugby League squads such as our Men’s, Wheelchair and Women’s teams.

Our planning application is now live on the Manchester City Council website.

The most easily accessible and visual of all the documents submitted to the council as part of our application is the Design and Access statement.
