Summary of CM's submissions on the Charge / evidence:

The MRP reviewed this incident in the 48th minute of the Sheffield v Barrow match, and were concerned by the actions of Brad Tagg Knowles, for which he was temporarily dismissed.

Mr Knowles approaches from the right following completion of the previous tackle and make contact on his opponent (Stack). Mr Knowles goes low into contact – with knees bent. There is a left arm grip around the back of Mr Stacks right knee. It cannot be seen the right arm, but this appears to be wrapped around the hip/waist area upon completion of the tackle. Mr Knowles then proceeds to lift and drive up through the knees, straightening his legs. The left elbow of Mr Knows can be seen to be high and pointed and the point of the lift. Throughout, Mr Knowles maintains his grip and lifts the opponent and acts alone. The opponent turns to the right of Mr Knowles as a result of the technique employed and lands on his head and neck area. With the rest of his body above him. Mr Knowles does not release and comes down on top of his opponent applying further weight. The opponent objects and throws the ball at Mr Knowles, at which point Mr Knowles promotes a forearm to the face of Mr Stack and a coming together ensues prior to his temporary dismissal.

Decision:

Guilty plea

Decision On Sanction (where found to have committed Misconduct)

Summary of CM's submissions on the appropriate sanction:

Player has several offences on his record including 3 for dangerous throws.

Summary of Player's submissions on the appropriate sanction:

Apologetic for tackle. Not intentional

Reasons for Decision:

The Tribunal have viewed the footage and agree with the grading given by the Match Review Panel. The Tribunal give the player credit for his guilty plea; however, this is a very dangerous tackle where the opponent has landed in a position which could have caused injury. The player has record, including 2 for similar offences. The Tribunal believe that a 4 match suspensions and a £250 fine is appropriate in this instance.

Suspension:

4 matches
