An appeal against the one-match suspension and £500 fine imposed on the Salford Red Devils forward Brad Singleton for a Grade B high tackle in the Betfred Super League fixture against Warrington Wolves has been rejected.
Following Salford’s appeal, a new three-person independent tribunal was convened, and endorsed the decision of the Operational Rules Tribunal which on Tuesday evening rejected an initial challenge to the Grade B charge determined by the Match Review Panel on Monday.
The Appeals Tribunal’s summary concluded: “We do not consider that the original tribunal failed to act fairly in a procedural sense nor consider that the failure to allow further submissions from the club resulted in unfairness to the club or the player - as a result the appeal is dismissed.”
Salford Red Devils forfeit another £500 bond, and the punishment of a one-match suspension and a £500 fine remains – meaning Singleton is unavailable for Saturday’s Betfred Super League Round 26 fixture at Hull KR.
