Leeds Rhinos’ Rhyse Martin has been unsuccessful in his attempt to overturn last week’s disciplinary tribunal ruling that his appeal against a one-match suspension for a careless tackle during the Rhinos Betfred Super League match against Castleford Tigers was ‘unreasonable/frivolous’.

Last week’s tribunal had decided that the appeal had no basis or merit to it within the rules and laws of the game, and for that reason imposed an additional one match suspension on top of that which kept him out of the play-off match against Catalans Dragons.

This evening’s tribunal upheld that decision and Martin will miss Friday’s Betfred Super League play off semi-final at Wigan Warriors.

Bradford Bulls’ Ebon Scurr, placed on report during his side’s Betfred Championship game against Widnes Vikings, has been suspended for eight matches. Scurr admitted a charge of Other Contrary Behaviour in relation to an attack on an opponent’s genitals, but challenged the Match Review Panel’s Grade F rating. The tribunal upheld the grading and insisted there is no place in the game for such acts.

Fui Fui Moi Moi successfully challenged a Grade C charge of punching during Rochdale Hornets Betfred League 1 match against Oldham. His initial two match suspension is downgraded to a caution only.

And Castleford Tigers’ Lewis Ransome must serve a three-match suspension after pleading guilty to a Grade D charge of striking a Huddersfield Giants opponent during in a recent reserve fixture.

The following players have accepted penalty notices imposed.

Thomas Doyle (Bradford Bulls) – Grade C Dangerous Contact – 3 matches

Gil Dudson (Catalans Dragons) – Grade C Head Butt – 3 matches

Vila Halafihi (Sheffield eagles – Grade A Disputes Decision – 0 matches

Kieran Hudson (Whitehaven) – Grade C Dangerous Contact – 2 matches

Courage Mkuhlani (Wakefield Trinity) – Grade B Dangerous Contact – 1 match

Dylan Napa (Catalans Dragons) – Grade B High Tackle – 2 matches

Isaac Nokes (Newcastle Thunder) – Grade C Other Contrary Behaviour – 2 matches

Mitchell Pearce (Catalans Dragons) – Grade B Disputing Decision – 1 match

Paul Sykes (Dewsbury Rams) – Grade C Dangerous Throw – 3 matches

Josh Wood (Barrow raiders) – Grade A Dangerous Contact – 0 matches

The cases for Emmerson Whittel and Callum Cameron (both Oldham) will be heard next week.
