Huddersfield run in seven tries to beat Toulouse

Huddersfield Giants recorded a comfortable 42-14 win to spoil Toulouse Olympique's Betfred Super League debut.

Toulouse did take the lead early on, Matty Russell claiming the honour of scoring their first-ever try in the competition.

Ilias Bergal added another and Chris Hankinson's goal put the hosts into a 10-0 lead after 20 minutes.

But that was as good as things got for the home side as Huddersfield ran in 42 points without reply.

Luke Yates and both Innes and Louis Senior went in before the break, with two of Olly Russell's eventual seven goals leaving the Giants 16-10 up at half time.

They then clicked through the gears in the second period, Jake Wardle making his mark with two tries ahead of a try for Chris McQueen.

Olly Ashall-Bott then rounded off the Giants' tryscoring for the night, before Guy Armitage gave the home fans a try to cheer late on.
