Betfred Championship Preview | London Broncos

Betfred Championship Preview | London Broncos

A gruelling 2021 season ended in despair for the Broncos, just missing out on the play-offs with a defeat on the final day and finishing seventh. In what was unprecedented times they fought hard and put in some really impressive displays, so you can expect the London club to start the season with a chip on their shoulder after being so close to a coveted play-off spot.

The Broncos haven't had any pre-season friendlies, but preparations for their season opener are well underway - an open training session at their new home, the Cherry Red Records Stadium, will have left the players with a spring in their step after touching grass in the new state-of-the-art ground in Wimbledon.

It also gave the fans the opportunity to show their support ahead of what could be a huge year for the club with sights firmly set on promotion.

A new era for the club from the capital is being lead by Head Coach Jermaine Coleman, after impressing at neighbours Skolars.

Coleman also coaches the Jamaican national side, and is steeped in Rugby League knowledge after years of playing and coaching experience.

One to Watch

It will be another new city for Dan Coates in 2022 as he swaps Coventry Bears for London Broncos.

The halfback enjoyed a Rugby League education in the North East as he represented Northumbria University and Newcastle Thunder, before moving south for Coventry last year.

He impressed in League One as he racked up a club record 147 points in the season and helped lead them to six wins from 17 games.

The Broncos go part time his year and will be turning to Coates as they aim to make a success of the move to the home of AFC Wimbledon.
