Fourth place London Broncos take on second place Featherstone Rovers in the second Kingstone Press Championship game as part of the Summer Bash at Bloomfield Road, Blackpool on Saturday, May 27 (4.45pm).

London Broncos are currently on an impressive run of five consecutive wins, the last time they were defeated was against Featherstone back on April 9th, when they fell to a 38-18 defeat.

Coach Andrew Henderson, said, “All the ingredients are there for a classic encounter this weekend. You’ve got two form sides coming head to head and it should make for a mouth-watering clash.

“We’re playing with a big of confidence now and I’m really pleased with the team performance so far this season, it’s certainly given me a selection headache for the game.

“Featherstone have been in great form as well, they’re a very good team and they’re hard to break down as a defensive unit.

“We’re certainly going to have to be at our best, there’s no doubt about that. We’ve been good in recent weeks but we have to strive to be better again because it’s going to take a lot to beat a confident Featherstone team.

“I’m excited for the game, as are the players and I’m looking forward to them rising to the challenge that Featherstone are going to present.”

Featherstone Rovers are also in great form heading in to the weekend’s game at Summer Bash. The West Yorkshire side are undefeated in six games and coach Jon Sharp is looking forward to the clash at Bloomfield Road.

He said, “The two teams are playing extremely well, looking at London they’ve racked up some points, they’ve put 40 and 70 points past people and another 50 past Bradford last week.

“They’re really hot at the minute so that definitely makes it a big defensive challenge for us.

“They’ve got some really good attacking players, they’re free flowing and full of confidence and we’ve got to stop them playing this weekend.

“We’re currently 6 out of 6 and they’re 5 out of 6 so both teams are playing well.

“The fixture this weekend has been chosen to pair up two really good teams and I should imagine there’ll be plenty of points scored as well.”

At last year’s Summer Bash, Featherstone fell to a 37-0 defeat against Halifax, Sharp is confident that won’t happen again this year. He continued, “You coach a team with regards to the abilities of the group and our attacking potential has improved massively from last year.

“Last year the team were a great team that will go down in history as the first team to ever make the top four but we’ve developed and pushed on, we’ve recruited well and got some strike power.

“We’ve got some attacking players who carry the ball really hard and I think that’s why we’re bearing fruit now.”
