Spring is in the air, which means longer days and warmer evenings – perfect conditions for exercising outdoors, keeping fit and making new friends through Try Tag Rugby.
Try Tag Rugby is an official partner of the Rugby Football League and is running over 75 Free Taster Sessions across the UK in April for anyone interested in this enjoyable, minimal contact version of the game.
The fun and friendly sessions are a perfect chance for anyone who has never played Tag Rugby League before to have a go and see what it’s like. Players of all genders and sporting abilities are welcome, no experience is needed and there is no obligation to sign up for a league or tournament if you decide it’s not for you.
Whilst Tag Rugby League is a great way to improve your fitness and mental wellbeing, there is no need to be super fit to start playing and Try Tag Rugby’s Taster Sessions are a gentle introduction to the game, suitable for all levels of fitness.
Taster Sessions will be running in Bingley, Bradford, Brighton & Hove, Bristol, Coventry, Edinburgh, Leamington Spa, Leeds, Leigh, London, Maidenhead, Manchester, Oxford, Reading, Rugby, Salford, Sheffield, Wakefield and Wigan.
Tag Rugby League is:
- For adults and teenagers aged 14+, with varying fitness levels and sporting ability;
- A 7-a-side game for all genders with unlimited substitutions;
- A minimal contact form of Rugby League where tackles are made by removing a tag from the player in possession of the ball;
- A game where tries are scored in the traditional way, but no conversions take place;
- A game of two x 20-minute halves on a pitch approximately 70m X 45m;
- Delivered in partnership with Try Tag Rugby (TTR) who run weekly mixed, men’s and women’s leagues all year round for adults and teens across the country as well as a number of one day events throughout the year;
Try Tag Rugby co-founder, Alistair Davis, said: “Our Taster Sessions are a brilliant way for new people to come and give Tag Rugby League a try. Everybody attending is in the same boat so there is a great vibe, people are there to have fun, meet people and try a new sport.
“Taster Sessions are free, so there is nothing to lose. Most people who give it a try love it, and we would encourage people to come along to one of over 75 sessions this April and make up their own minds”
