New York cycling challenge for Rugby League Cares reaches half way point

Rugby League's Excellent American Adventure is halfway to Manhattan - and more than ever, the motley crew who have come together to cycle more than 500 miles from Niagara Falls to raise money for Rugby League Cares need your support.

Whether it's legendary RL enforcer Adrian Morley; Leeds Rhinos Women three quarter Tara Moxon; or even the former Sky Sports Rugby League producer Neville Smith - all have been pushing their bodies through a world of pain to make it through the first three days of their six-day trip.

It's all in the worthy cause of raising awareness, and funds, for RL Cares - the sport's official charity, which does so much to support past and current players, as well as other important causes.

On day three, they made it from Syracuse to Utica, a city in the Mohawk Valley in New York State - meaning they're still on track for the finish in Central Park on Friday - a resonant Rugby League name, even if it's in New York rather than Wigan.

The cyclists are hugely grateful for the support they have already received from all sections of the Rugby League community, led by Leeds-based UK Red Security and Fire Systems, who are title sponsors of the UK Red Empire State 500.

Other riders include Morley's former Leeds and Great Britain team-mate Keith Senior, the former Warrington and GB prop Paul Wood, and the former Salford and Bradford three-quarter Nathan McAvoy, now a member of the RFL's Match Review Panel.

The RFL sends best wishes to them all for the next three days - donations can be made securely JustGiving by clicking HERE.
