
South Wales Ironmen secured their first home win in four years with a thrilling 24-22 victory over Coventry Bears.
The Ironmen got off to a flying start with Christiaan Roets scoring the first two tries of the game to give South Wales a 12-0 lead at half-time.
Errol Carter gave South Wales the perfect start to the second 40 with a try on the first set, giving South Wales a 16-0 lead.
Coventry Bears got into the game soon after and ran in four tries of their own to go 22-18 ahead with eight minutes remaining.
With two minutes left, Barrie Phillips dived over for South Wales to level the scores. Paul Emanuelli converted the try and the Ironmen held on to earn their first win of the season.

Paul Crook’s boot was the difference as Whitehaven beat York City Knights 18-16.
York took the lead through a Tommy Saxton try, but three converted Whitehaven tries gave them an 18-4 lead heading into the last 20 minutes.
The Knights gave a spirited effort to comeback in the last 10, with two converted tries bringing them two points behind with a few minutes remaining.
Whitehaven kept York out in the dying moments to take the two points and remain on the heels of table toppers Toronto Wolfpack.
Toronto Wolfpack remained unbeaten in Kingstone Press League 1 with a 58-12 victory away at Workington Town.
Braces from Jonny Pownall, Greg Worthington, Craig Hall and Ryan Brierley ensured Toronto took the points home from West Cumbria.
The Wolfpack’s five first half tries gave them a 28-6 lead heading into the break, and another five in the second half made it 11 wins out of 11 in the league.

Barrow kept up the chase with a 28-4 victory against North Wales Crusaders in a rematch of the League 1 Cup Final.
Tries from Brad Marwood (2) and Dan Abram earned Barrow a 16-4 lead at half-time with North Wales’ only points coming from a Callum Mulkeen try.
Barrow shutout the Crusaders in the second 40 as tries from Declan Hulme and Dan Toal confirmed the victory for the Cumbrian side.

Keighley Cougars put on an impressive second half display to come from behind and defeat London Skolars 45-26.
Skolars led 18-14 at half-time but Keighley scored five tries after the break to take the advantage and pull away.
The Cougars remain in sixth place, three points ahead of Skolars in 11th.
Newcastle Thunder held Oxford out in a 52-0 victory on Sunday.
Thunder raced to a 26-0 half-time lead and didn’t take the foot off in the last 40.
Lewis Young completed a hat-trick in the 75th minute as Newcastle moved above Hunslet and Workington into seventh.
University of Gloucestershire All Golds recorded their fifth win of the season with a 32-20 win over Hemel Stags.
Hemel led 14-8 at half-time thanks to two tries from Marcus Elliott. Mitch Vincent added two conversions and a penalty for the Stags as they took a six-point advantage into the second-half.
Five tries from All Golds reversed the score to leave Hemel still searching for their first win of the season.
