Registration is now open for the England Universities Rugby League Regional Trials, with all players with ambitions to play for England in 2020 invited and encouraged to register.
This year's programme will see England aim to reclaim their RFL President's Cup title against GB Police, GB Teachers and UK Armed Forces as well as travelling to Ireland in a bid to win a sixth consecutive Student Rugby League Four Nations championship. Two further games as part of the preparatory phase will also take place.
"2020 is set to be another great year, the standard of the regional games really is getting better year on year," said Adam Hughes, Education Lead at the Rugby Football League.
"I am really looking forward to seeing as many Universities represented as possible. The England Universities Regional programme provides a great opportunity for players to test themselves outside of their BUCS season."
The pathway to England starts with selection for the region in which a student is studying, with a round of inter-regional games. In a change to previous years, all three games will take place at the University of Birmingham on Saturday 30th November. Fixtures are as follows:
Richard Tate, England Universities Head Coach commented: "The week for the Four Nations in Ireland will be the highlight of the programme, giving players an opportunity to enjoy an overseas tour, but with some very competitive games lined up against other representative sides, the whole programme is set to test the players selected.
"With the Student Rugby League World Cup taking place in 2021 in England, we'll have one eye on that competition as we aim to build a squad capable of becoming world champions."
Following the inter-regional games, players are selected for their Origin side, with Midlands, South East and South West aligning to the South and North West, North East and Yorkshire aligning to the North, with the University Origin Match taking place on Saturday 1st February at Loughborough University.
Trials for the regional sides will take place on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd November 2019 with exact details, plus details of each region's coaching staff, to be announced shortly.
All students who wish to trial need to register their interest no later than Tuesday 30th October by clicking HERE.
