Try Tag Rugby Great Britain face Ireland in the 2019 British & Irish Cup on Saturday 7th September at Twyford Avenue Sports Ground in London.
Try Tag Rugby, the RFL’s Tag Rugby League partners, are the official Great Britain delegates of the International Tag Federation with players for the Great Britain teams selected from over 9,000 players playing weekly in Try Tag Rugby Leagues across the country. Try Tag Rugby run leagues all year around and although most leagues are social leagues, both the Great Britain Internationals and UK Tag Nationals later in September provide an exciting opportunity and pathway for those players who want to play the game at a competitive level.
Played on an annual basis since 2013 (missing only 2015 for the Tag World Cup), the British & Irish Cup sees Tag Rugby teams from Great Britain and Ireland come together to play in multiple categories over one day.
In 2018 Great Britain faced Ireland in Gormanston Park, Co. Meath, Ireland, with Ireland narrowly clinching the series 26 competition points to Great Britain’s 22.
This year’s event is yet again set to be a tight affair with plenty of exciting games and some top class Tag Rugby on show. The Irish teams, who are selected from over 15,000 regular players in Ireland, will provide a very strong opposition and based on previous results will again start as pre-tournament favourites.
Spectators are welcome to attend the games, but if you can’t make it you can watch six games live via the live steam on the Try Tag Rugby Facebook page HERE. The live steam will begin from approximately 12:45 and include full match commentary.
The live stream games will also be available to watch on delayed broadcast on the Rugby Football League Our League App from the end of next week. The Our League App is free and available to anybody, sign-up to Our League now!
