Wigan Warriors completed the 2020 Coral Challenge Cup Semi Final line-up and ensured a meeting with Leeds Rhinos thanks to a 4-36 victory over Hull FC.
It didn’t take Wigan long to open the scoring thanks to hooker Sam Powell who burrowed his way over from close-range to mark his 200th Wigan appearance with a try. Liam Farrell – who has been in terrific try-scoring form in recent weeks – soon powered his way over to further the Warriors lead.
Bevan French was a constant thorn in the side of Hull FC and he scored his first try of the evening following a clever dummy and sidestep near the Black and Whites line.
Wigan would close the half with two fantastic tries. The first saw the Warriors break down the right-hand side before Zak Hardaker placed a lovely kick in-field allowing French to notch his second.
Two minutes before the interval, Joe Burgess scooped up a loose FC pass and raced 80 metres to give Adrian Lam’s men an impressive 0-26 lead at the break.
Wigan’s dominance continued into the second half as Farrell sliced his way through to match French’s brace before Oliver Gildart also got his name on the scoresheet.
Mahe Fonua grabbed a late consolation try for Hull FC.
