All eyes on Totally Wicked Stadium ahead of Betfred Women's Super League Grand Final

All eyes on Totally Wicked Stadium ahead of Betfred Women's Super League Grand Final

St Helens’ Totally Wicked Stadium will be the venue for this year’s Betfred Women’s Super League Grand Final, this Friday 11 October, as League Leaders' Shield winners Castleford Tigers take on Coral Challenge Cup winners Leeds Rhinos.

The RFL’s Marc Lovering, Director of Participation and Development, explains why the showpiece event will take place at the Totally Wicked:

“With our partners, we have spent time over several months planning a great event which is worthy of the best players in the league. We hope that fans of both clubs and neutrals will enjoy an outstanding evening of Rugby League. We are delighted that the local community and neutrals have got behind the event in advance of knowing which teams made the final, and have shown their commitment by buying tickets and spreading the word.

“I am delighted to announce that Lizzie Jones – a passionate champion of Women’s Rugby League - is leading the presentation party with our sponsors.

“We announced the Totally Wicked Stadium as the venue for the final in mid-August, as part of the planning to give England Women the best possible chance at the Downer World Cup Nines in Sydney. The final had been scheduled for Sunday 13 October at Headlingley. We moved the final to the Friday to allow players who may have both club and country commitments additional travel and preparation time.

“Unfortunately, Leeds Rhinos were unable to host on Friday 11 October, and as part of our ambition to host Women’s Super League events in the best stadia possible and encourage more broadcast coverage of women’s Rugby League, we were grateful to St Helens for stepping in and offering to host the final at the Totally Wicked Stadium.”

Kick-off of the Betfred Women’s Super League Grand Final is at 7.30pm.

The Women’s Championship and League 1 Grand Finals will take place on Saturday 12 October at Manchester’s Etihad Campus prior to the season’s climax at Old Trafford – the Betfred Super League Grand Final, which kicks off at 6pm.
