'Rob Burrow: My Year with MND' to air on Tuesday

A documentary on Rugby League legend Rob Burrow's battle against Motor Neurone Disease will air on Tuesday at 7pm on BBC Two, before being shown again directly before the 2020 Coral Challenge Cup Final on Saturday, the BBC have confirmed.

The doc, which was originally set to be aired on Monday evening, has been pushed back due to the Goverment announcement on Monday evening, allowing the film the best chance of capturing the viewing figures it deserves.

The film follows Rob on his heroic fight against the degenerative disease, with support from wife Lindsey, plus former Leeds Rhinos team-mates Kevin Sinfield and Barrie McDermott.

Burrow, who has three young children, was prompted to raise awareness for research into the condition, including regular appearances on BBC Breakfast, after a meeting with former Scotland rugby union international and fellow MND sufferer Doddie Weir.

Burrow, 38, was diagnosed with MND barely two years after ending his stellar playing career by helping Leeds to a record-extending eighth Super League Grand Final in 2017.
