Salford and Leeds reach Cup semi finals

Dan Sarginson scored a dramatic Golden Point Extra Time winner as Salford Red Devils downed Catalans Dragons 22-18 and reach the Coral Challenge Cup semi-finals.

Rhyse Martin's 20-point performance then helped Leeds Rhinos follow the Red Devils into the final four as they swept Hull KR aside in a 48-18 triumph.

Salford recovered from an early 12-point deficit to head into half time just two points adrift at 12-10 and they could have won had either of Krisnan Inu;s late drop goal attempts been successful.

But Sarginson proved to be the hero of the hour as he streaked down the left flank to send his side to within 80 minutes of a second major final appearance in as many years.

Later on, Leeds were in imperious form as they racked up a 30-0 half time lead thanks to five converted tries without reply.

Though Jamie Ellis scored a second-half double for Rovers they never got within touching distance as the Rhinos sailed into the next round.
