After almost 10 years in the role, John Wroe has decided to step down from the role of Chairman of Masters Rugby League.
The Masters Management Board will meet soon to agree the process for the appointment of a successor as Chair of Masters. Paul Field, currently Masters Vice Chair, will act as interim Chair of Masters until a new Chair is in post.
John will not be totally lost to Masters as he will continue to play Masters Rugby League and looks forward to being part of the forthcoming exciting Masters events. He will continue as tour manager for the Masters tour to France in June and the Great Britain tour to Australia in September.
“Masters is now an established force within rugby league and we now have some terrific opportunities ahead. I feel that a younger man with more energy and with vision is required to take Masters through the next stage of its development.” John explained.
Paul Field, Masters Vice Chair, said “John has been part of The Masters Steering Group since its formation. He has worked quietly in the background to grow and spread Masters Rugby League. We thank John for all his efforts and his guidance over the last 10 years. John will always be welcome at Masters games and events.”
