Learn More about Rugby League 9s

The BUCS Rugby League 9s is a modified version of full-contact Rugby League and is played nationally. This competition has two elements– a Trophy competition which is open to all teams and a Championship competition which is open for Premier North and Premier South clubs.

The Championship is a one-off event and is the competition for BUCS Premier North and South clubs. It will be held at the University of Nottingham on the 15th February 2017.

The Trophy competition is open to all teams and has been developed to provide players who do not regularly take part in BUCS competitions with more playing opportunities. To be eligible to play in the Trophy competition, the player needs to be classed as a ‘non-regular BUCS player’, which means they can’t have played in more than 50% of the teams league fixtures.

It will have a series of monthly regional festivals that will take place on Saturdays from October 2016 through to February 2017.

After the regional monthly festivals, a regional qualifying event will take place in March with the winners of each regional qualifier progressing to the National Trophy finals competition in April.

To enter the Regional Qualifiers, the University must have attended a minimum of two monthly events and the winners of both the Championship being awarded 50 BUCS points and the Trophy winners will be awarded 30 BUCS points.

There will be two competitions available within University Rugby league for 9’s, these are;
