Paul McShane was the centre of attention as Castleford Tigers overcame Hull KR 33-32 in a dramatic golden point extra time Challenge Cup win on Friday night.

The 31 year old hooker scored twice, made two try assists and ran an eye-catching 256 metres from 13 carries during the game, which lasted 99 minutes before the Tigers kicked a winning drop goal.

Fellow Tiger Niall Evalds was unavailable due to the arrival of his son, August.

Elsewhere on Friday night, Zak Hardaker scored a try and kicked three goals in a dominant performance as Wigan Warriors rolled past York City Knights 26-0 away from home.

John Bateman also featured from the start as the Warriors secured their place in the final eight.

Kallum Watkins was a tryscorer on Saturday as Salford Red Devils overcame Widnes Vikings 68-4, and Sam Tomkins capped off a fine individual performance with a four-pointer in Catalans Dragons' 26-6 win over Wakefield Trinity.

Saturday also saw Tommy Makinson kick five goals and score a brace for a 18-point haul in St Helens' 26-18 win over Cup holders Leeds.

James Roby, Jonny Lomax and Alex Walmsley all started as Saints made the next step in their search for a first Challenge Cup title since 2008.

Hull FC secured a 34-14 win over Featherstone Rovers at The Millennium Stadium in Saturday's late game. England call-up Josh Griffin clocked up 136 running metres and two first-half tries on the night.

Toby King scored twice on Sunday as his Warrington Wolves side were 32-8 winners at Swinton Lions.

Stefan Ratchford helped the Wolves, who also started Daryl Clark, Joe Philbin and Ben Currie, over the line with four goals at Heywood Road.

The weekend''s final game saw Huddersfield Giants travel to face Leigh Centurions and they set up a quarter final tie with St Helens thanks to a hard-fought 36-18 win.

Jermaine McGillvary made a crucial contribution for the visitors as he ran in a hat-trick.
