NRL side Newcastle Knights have confirmed the signing of England Academy player Dominic Young.
Young made his Betfred Super League debut for Huddersfield Giants last season in a 2-38 defeat to eventual Grand Final winners St Helens.
The towering teenager was a star for Yorkshire in last year’s Academy Origin Series scoring tries in fixtures at Wakefield’s Mobile Rocket Stadium and Blackpool’s Bloomfield Road.
Newcastle Knights Recruitment Manager, Alex McKinnon, said: “Dominic is an exceptional athlete.
“He moves extremely well for his size, and is known for his footwork, physical presence and wonderful attitude to honing his craft.
“He is arguably the top rated 18-year-old in the UK and could have excelled at several clubs, whether that be in the NRL, Super League or English and French Rugby Union.
“Dom is making a huge sacrifice to chase his dream on the other side of the world and try to establish himself as a first-grade player at such a young age.
“We look forward to welcoming him into the squad come the pre-season.”
Newcastle currently sit 7th in the NRL ladder and are set to host Wests Tigers this weekend.
