While the challenge for the NCL Premier Division title remains ongoing, tensions at the bottom of the division are also in full swing. Here we round up the best of this week's action from across the competition...
Premier Division | Rochdale Mayfield 30-14 Wigan St Patricks
Rochdale Mayfield recorded back-to-back victories for the first time this season after overcoming fellow strugglers Wigan St Patricks at Mayfield Sports Centre.
Paul Brearley struck twice whilst Wayne Brookes, Luke Fowden and Aidan Gleeson also crossed over to secure a vital victory for the hosts.
Zac Baker added five goals to ensure Matt Calland’s side moved two points above St Pats.
Division 1 | Shaw Cross Sharks 11-10 Featherstone Lions
Shaw Cross Sharks produced the biggest shock of the weekend after clinging on to a dramatic 11-10 success over fifth place Featherstone Lions.
Prior to the contest, the hosts had won just once in the league but they made a great start after building an 11-6 lead through tries from Joe Halloran and Ryan Chalkey. The latter also added a goal whilst Andrew Tillotson ultimately landed the winning drop-goal.
The Lions did respond with a try of their own in the second-period but Shaw Cross held on to claim a pivotal two points as they bid to avoid the drop to the third tier.
Division 2 | Stanningley 33-18 Wigan St Judes
Stanningley remain four points clear at the summit of the Division 2 table after racking up 33 points over a formidable Wigan St Judes side.
Scores from Jack Smith, Liam Copland, Ryan Taylor, Dean Parker and Adam Benn combined with six goals from Copland and an additional drop-goal from Callum Smithson ensured the league leaders ran out comfortable winners.
The visitors did cross over on three occasions themselves though. Barry Rothwell, Connor Parkinson and Gavin Rodden all touched down but Stanningley proved far too hot to handle.
Division 3 | Gateshead Storm 16-35 Beverley
In what was the sole Division 3 fixture this weekend, table toppers Beverley stretched their lead to four points with a convincing triumph at Gateshead Storm.
Despite the best try-scoring efforts of Daniel Chetwynd (2) and Zach Clark, the hosts fell short as Lewis Straw claimed a brace and five goals whilst Alex Calvert, Lewis Poskett and Benjamin Bardle also crossed over to secure the points.
Poskett then added a late drop goal to rub salt into the Gateshead wounds.
