Leyland Warriors have just completed their first ever tour to Ireland, visiting the beautiful city of Belfast to play Masters Rugby League with hosts, the Ulster Blues, and the Republic of Ireland Masters who travelled up from Dublin.
Leyland Warriors Prop Forward Carl Rollins really enjoyed his time over in Belfast: "What a great opportunity to still be able to play a tour game at my age. The lads from Ulster and the Republic play the game in the true Master's spirit."
After speaking with the lads from Hindpool Masters, who made the trip earlier in the year, the Leyland Warriors decided on a trip of their own to Belfast. On confirmation of the game, the Leyland players jumped at the opportunity.
Organiser, Craig Hogan-Farnworth, was still buzzing after the trip: "We travelled over for two nights of fun and socialising with the finest Masters Rugby League on show. Most of the lads only got back to the hotel in the early morning prior the game! The first half was like watching the New South Wales Blues, the second half once the hangovers kicked in, was....well....not the best! But the Rugby was secondary, it was about spreading the wonderful game of Masters we play."
All the players enjoyed the trip and are already looking at the next one in 2020. If anyone is thinking of heading over to play The Ulster Blues, the Warriors would highly recommend it!
Leyland Warriors sent big vote of thanks to the Ulster Blues and the ROI Masters for a great game and a weekend they will never forget.
