Dewsbury Rams have confirmed the signing of Reiss Butterworth ahead of the 2021 Betfred Championship season.
Butterworth came through the ranks at Bradford Bulls before joining Betfred Super League outfit Huddersfield Giants in 2019 and making his debut earlier this season against St Helens.
The 21-year-old hooker has also spent time on loan with Batley Bulldogs, Castleford Tigers and, most recently, York City Knights for whom he scored against Rochdale Hornets in the 2020 Coral Challenge Cup.
Rams Head Coach, Lee Greenwood, said: “We’re delighted to bring Reiss to Dewsbury Rams. We were looking for a quality nine to come in and when we knew of his availability we moved quickly.
“He ticks a lot of boxes for us – young, hungry with loads of potential but has already shown he can play at Championship level.
“There are elements to his game we can help him with, but all the raw materials are there. He has been given the number nine shirt which shows how much confidence we have in him to be a big player for us.”
