Tag Rugby was showcased for the second year running at the Dacia Magic Weekend, held at St James' Park in Newcastle last weekend.
Try Tag Rugby, the Rugby Football League's Tag Rugby League partner, were invited to put on an exhibition match at half-time of the Hull derby clash between Hull FC and Hull KR - playing in front of part of the 64,319 total Magic Weekend crowd.
The match, which included players from London, Manchester and Yorkshire, ended in a 2-2 draw.
With a new Try Tag Rugby league kicking off in Hull last week, playing this exhibition match at half-time of the Hull derby was a fitting way to showcase what the sport is about to the people of Hull and hopefully encourage more people in Hull to get involved in Tag Rugby.
The players that were involved in this year’s Tag Rugby exhibition match at Magic Weekend were:
Red Team – Joe Barker, John Hickling, Bethany Hirst, Jess Kirk, Chris Richards, Dan Ryan, Helen Scales, Ceri Whittle
Blue Team – Zoe Cockburn, Doug Hann, Ross Hann, Darren Huck, Ian Kerr, Ophelia Lightowler, Leon Nightingale, Gemma Robinson, Kaela Thurston
Referee – Matt Blades
Try Tag Rugby would like to thank all those that were involved in putting on this exhibition match. There will be another Tag Rugby exhibition match being put on this Saturday, May 26, at half-time of the Toronto Wolfpack v Leigh Centurions match at Summer Bash, at Bloomfield Road in Blackpool.
Try Tag Rugby now run leagues in Bristol, Coventry & Warwickshire, London, Manchester, the Thames Valley and Yorkshire.
