Eagles brush aside Vikings
Super League-bound Widnes Vikings ended their stay in the Championship with a fifth successive defeat, going down 36-20 to Sheffield Eagles in the second Co-operative Championship play-off tie.
The Eagles led virtually from start to finish at Bramall Lane as they secured a home semi-final against Halifax next weekend.
They went ahead with a fifth-minute try from Quentin Laulu-Togagae and Dane McDonald added another before half-time, both converted by Simon Brown, who kicked penalties either side of half-time to extend his side\'s lead to 16-4.
Paddy Flynn gave the visitors hope with a couple of tries and Danny Craven and former Sheffield centre Tangi Ropati also touched down, but McDonald claimed his second try and Hull-bound full-back Misi Taulapapa also scored to keep the Eagles in command.
Laulu-Togagae then doubled his try tally and Brown completed the scoring with an eighth goal.
