Featherstone Rovers made a winning start to their Super 8s Championship Shield campaign by gaining revenge over Whitehaven with a 42-30 victory at the Big Fellas Stadium.
Rovers, who despite finishing fifth were embarrassed 29-0 at home by 10th-placed Whitehaven last month in the final round of the Kingstone Press Championship regular season, had to come from behind but in the end outscored their opponents seven tries to five to claim the victory.
Seven different players got on the scoresheet for the hosts with Alex Foster, Jordan Baldwinson, Gareth Moore, Will Sharp, Jamie Cording, Kyran Johnson and Matt James crossing, with Paul Sykes adding four goals.
For Whitehaven, Ted Chapelhow scored two tries while the other three were notched by Grant Gore, Chris Taylor and Ed Chamberlain, who converted all five kicks.
