Betfred League One Round Up | Round 20

Oldham maintained their lead at the top of the Betfred League One table, with an 84-0 thrashing of Newcastle Thunder in Round 20.

The Roughyeds ran in fourteen tries, including five tries from Cian Tyrer, who made his first appearance for the side since June.

North Wales staged a late comeback at Colwyn Bay, but this was not enough to overturn Keighley Cougars on Sunday afternoon.

A George Flanagan try and successful Jack Miller conversion were all that separated the two sides, as this victory for the Cougars guarantees them a top two finish.

Midlands’ win over Workington ensured that they kept fifth place for at least another week. The Hurricanes always led in Round 20’s game and scored five tries to Town’s four to claim the two points.

Finally Cornwall came close against Hunslet in a highly competitive contest. It was a try fest at The Memorial Ground with neither side maintaining the lead for long.

Cornwall’s Callum Abbott’s try levelled the scores at 26-26 heading into a nervy final five minutes. But it was Hunslet who would see it through, first with a Matty Beharrell drop goal, and then a Michael Knowles try on the hooter to dramatically snatch the spoils.
